Specializes in Madhubani paintings. Madhunani art was earlier executed by women to decorate their home on auspicious occasions. Today this art is done by both men and women. Shankar Kumar Jha is a handicapped artist living in a remote area in Bihar.His paintings are mostly in the traditional style on religious subjects with a modern touch.
Bhagwat
Bhagwat ist the story of Krishna’s childhood and adulthood. Vishnu’s eighthincarnation Krishna has generated many legends and tales, far more than any other character in Indian mythology. He came on to the earth to destroy Kansa a demon king of Mathura. As a child he performed great feats of strength much to the astonishment of his simple mother and others. Krishna during his childhood revealed his dual character. He seemed just a next door mischievous but loveable boy but at times he showed his divine powers. As a youth, like anyone at that age, he dallied with Radha and other village belles. When he grew up as a man he achieved that for which he was born, ie vanquishing Kana.
Dasavatar (Ten incarnations of Vishnu)
Vishnu is said to have ten avatars or incarnations. Nine have already appeared on earth. The tenth is still to come. Each incarnation is believed to save the world from evil and destruction. The ten incarnate forms are Fish, tortoise, Boar, Narsimha, Vamana, Parasurama, Rama, Krishna, Buddha and Kalki (yet to come).
